The Crown Jewel theme has become a dominant theme in Riyadh since US and Israeli strikes on Iran in February prompted retaliatory attacks on Gulf states close to the West, such as Saudi Arabia.
The US State Department had warned against travel to the region even before the weekend, when Yemen’s Houthi rebels attacked the kingdom’s capital, King Khalid International Airport.
Many called for WWE to change plans for the November 7 event in light of the conflict, but the company appears to be moving forward with plans it reportedly never considered changing.
