Edgar Berlanga was arrested Monday in Polk County, Florida and charged with two counts of battery.
29 years old Zuffa boxing According to court documents obtained by Yahoo Sports!, the Lakeland Police Department took the super middleweight into custody on Oct. 26 in connection with an alleged incident that occurred on Oct. 18.
Berlanga faces one count of first-degree misdemeanor assault or battery and one count of second-degree criminal mischief.
Berlanga appeared in court Tuesday at the Bartow Courthouse, where a judge reportedly set his combined bail at $16,000. His arraignment is scheduled for Nov. 17 at 8:45 a.m. He will be formally notified of the charges and given an opportunity to enter a plea at that time.
No further details regarding the alleged incident have been released. As of this writing, Berlanga has not released a statement regarding his arrest or charges.
Zuffa Boxing has not announced Berlanga’s next fight.
