The The sun sign a free agent center Duop Rit to a one-year contract, Shams Charania reports for ESPN (via Twitter).
The third-year center has seen his minutes dwindle each year with the Trail Blazers, but has established himself as a reliable scorer. with Mark Williams is set to miss extended time following shoulder surgery, Reeth will fill the big man role with the sophomore Haman Maluach.
The deal is for a one-year veteran minimum contract, per John Gambador of 98.7 FM Phoenix (Link to Twitter), who notes that Reath had several other offers. The Knicks have reportedly been keeping an eye on him before signing James Wiseman to the training camp deal.
The 30-year-old, 6-foot-9 center played 8.1 minutes in 32 games for the Blazers last season, a casualty of the Blazers’ improved big-man depth. He still managed to be effective, posting a .446/.418/.833 slash line.
Gambadora suggests (via Twitter) that this transaction is likely to cause Jamery Boya be reduced as the team currently has 15 players under contract.
