Drew McIntyre’s career has had some notable high points, such as his multiple championship wins, making him the 31st three-time champion, as well as winning both the Royal Rumble and Money in the Bank Briefcase.
Meanwhile, McIntyre has suffered some low points, like the months before he left WWE or CM Punk costing him his title, but there’s a moment he wishes he could take back.
“I wish I could take back falling from hell in a cell,” he recalls of himself 2020 match against Randy Orton for the WWE Championshipduring the speechWhat is your story? With Steph McMahon“Podcast.
“I think it’s 20 feet, the cell now, it was 10 feet,” McIntyre recalled. “I’m 6’7, when I looked back, I didn’t like my height, I went, what have I done?” and I fell, hit the table, bit my tongue.’
While the whole point was painful, McIntyre reasons that it served the storyline because of how well Orton noticed how he sold the bump, which was a threat at the end of the match, which deviated a bit from the original plan.
“But when you’re in the ring with someone like Randy and you know what you’re doing, you know your character, and you’re given a big moment, you know it bothers a brother, especially a big babyface,” he added. “It was a great moment to be in sync like that and it worked all the way through, but I wish I could take that fall back because it was scary.”
McIntyre insists the fall did no permanent damage, crediting his training since 2025 for how great he feels today.
