Dave Roberts and Miguel Rojas addressed the Dodgers after the team clinched its 13th National League West championship in the last 14 seasons.
Rojas opened the clubhouse toast by recognizing the team’s series win and the contributions that helped the Dodgers clinch the division.
Roberts then delivered a powerful message about the toughness required to survive a long season filled with injuries and adversity.
Roberts told the Dodgers:
Winning the division remains a special accomplishment
The team’s toughness is often overlooked
Every player has continued to answer when called upon
Winning championships requires sacrifice
The Dodgers must eliminate distractions
They need 11 wins in October to capture another championship
Every player must be ready when his moment arrives
The organization has an opportunity to accomplish something unprecedented
Roberts described the Dodgers as talented, intelligent, tough and hungry before turning the clubhouse loose to celebrate another division championship.
