Daniel Jones, Derrick Henry lead latest NFL trade deadline rumors

The NFL trade deadline is fast approaching, and the rumors are heating up.

Here’s a roundup of the latest rumors ahead of Sunday’s action.

Daniel Jones Business Market

Yes, you read that right.

There is a trade market for Daniel Jones.

According to ESPNthe Indianapolis Colts have received calls from “multiple teams” regarding the veteran quarterback, who is slated to start the Colts against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. Earlier this week, it was reported that Indianapolis is waiting to see how Week 9 unfolds before completing any more trades, though the rest of the league will complete a small “fire sale” after dealing with guard Quinton Nelson and defensive lineman DeForest Buckner.

While Jonathan Taylor received the most attention, ESPN reported that the Baltimore Ravens were one team to “test on Jones” before completing a trade for Jacoby Brissett from the Arizona Cardinals. The projected centers against the Minnesota Vikings, who enter Week 9 with a 6-1 record, but have struggled on the offensive side of the football.

Jones signed a two-year, $88 million extension in March.

He also has $10.51 million in injury guarantees for the 2027 season, which will be guaranteed as long as he is fully on the Colts’ roster on March 15. If the 2-6 Colts are eliminated from the playoffs, Indianapolis can avoid injury and keep the bench in the game.

ESPN noted that Jones could waive that guarantee if he wanted to play elsewhere.

And one wonders if the Colts’ decision to wait until after Sunday’s schedule – in part – leaves the door open for a team to develop pressing interest at the position due to an injury at the starting quarterback.

Jones isn’t the only Pole player receiving attention, as wide receiver Josh Downs requested a trade following the deals involving Nelson and Buckner.

Like Ian Rapoport and Adam SchefterThe Colts have notified teams that they have a fourth-round pick at wide receiver. Indianapolis originally asked for a third-round pick for Downs, and you can expect the Colts to try to see if they can get a better offer to make a deal.

The Jaguars need a defensive player

The Jacksonville Jaguars looked like one of the NFL’s elite teams in Thursday night’s win over the Baltimore Ravens.

But the organization is looking to help on the defensive side of the football.

Jacksonville lost defensive tackle Davon Hamilton for the rest of the season due to a torn quadriceps muscle, so adding some help on the defensive line stands out as a pressing need. And Jacksonville has a player who could be in a position of need for many teams, especially wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. According to ESPN, the team has “received a lot of inquiries about Thomas in recent years and defied all odds.”

But with Thomas seeing less and less time on offense — he played just 19 times against the Ravens and didn’t catch a pass — this might be the time to move him. One of the teams interested in his services is the Kansas City Chiefs, who “continue to be enthralled by Thomas,” and could see Jacksonville try out some defensive help from the Chiefs.

The Ravens didn’t expect to host Derrick Henry.

Despite the Baltimore Ravens’ recent struggles, the team is not expected to trade running back Derrick Henry before Tuesday’s trade deadline.

Baltimore’s four-game losing streak and Lamar Jackson’s thumb injury fueled speculation that the Ravens would be sellers before the deadline and opened the door to speculation about Henry’s future with the team. But the running back himself spoke after Thursday night’s loss. For the Jaguars that he is not “Going somewhere else” and the group so far agrees with this assessment. According to ESPN, the Ravens “don’t have to trade” Henry, and the Jacoby Brissett trade is one sign that Baltimore is still trying to stay in the game instead of waving the white flag this season.

The Titans are “open to offers” on Calvin Ridley.

While Josh Downs is one name leading the list of available wide receivers, Calvin Ridley is another AFC South WR who could be on the move.

While the Tennessee Titans won’t be trading Tony Pollard, the team will “listen” to offers for Calvin Ridley. According to ESPNWho can buy a replacement for a late-round pick. According to ESPN, the Chiefs are one team that is calling for wide receivers, as are the San Francisco 49ers and Pittsburgh Steelers.

However, there is some question as to whether Pittsburgh will actually trade for WR. For a long time at the beginning of this week Steel writer Gary Dulac insisted the team. There was no move for the receiver before Tuesday’s deadline.

The Chargers won’t trade any of their stars.

The Los Angeles Chargers’ brutal start to the season has opened up speculation about several key people, from head coach Jim Harbaugh to offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel, as well as several star players including Justin Herbert, Ladd McConkey and Khalil Mack.

However, those requests received “hard nos” from the Chargers.

Harbaugh addressed Mack’s expectations earlier this week, telling reporters: “I want Khalil Mack here. Khalil Mack wants to be here.” And calls about Herbert and McConkie were rejected. While the Chargers have no chance of making the playoffs, the team “doesn’t like the message of giving up on the season.” According to ESPN.
