Luis Francischinelli earns UFC contract with first-round TKO of William Rentz in week 10 of DWCS

Rentz (8-3) immediately closed the distance, taking down the six-foot Francischinelli (7-1) with a body lock. Francischinelli threatened with a heel hook and landed elbows from the back before returning to his feet.

Rentz secured another takedown, but Francischinelli quickly got back to his feet. As Rentz continued to press, the Brazilian dropped him with a left hook. Francischinelli followed him to the canvas and hit the ground to force a stoppage at 2:18 of the 1st round.

UFC CEO Dana White praised Francischinelli’s performance, describing the 30-year-old as a “fun” addition to the 170-pound division.

“Luis, you’re 7-1 right now, you weigh 170 pounds, you’re 10 feet tall,” White said. “Another fun guy I’m looking forward to seeing fight in the UFC. Best of luck.”

Francischinelli was emotional after the fight and said his wife was in the hospital. After receiving the contract, he shared an update saying he had been fired.
