Crystal Palace fought back to earn a 1-1 draw against Hoffenheim at Selhurst Park despite being reduced to 10 men in their Europa League shock
Alexander Prass gave the German visitors an early lead, capitalizing on a lapse at the back to put Pierre Sage’s side under pressure.
Palace also suffered a blow when Adam Wharton was sent off, but the hosts fought back to get a point and avoid a second defeat in four European games this season.
Hoffenheim struck after just seven minutes with their first meaningful attack.
Andrej Kramaric released Tim Lemperle down the right, and the striker flicked a perfectly weighted pass into the path of Prass.
The Austrian sent a left-footed effort towards goal, which snuck past goalkeeper Dean Henderson and went over the line.
Palace had earlier seen Daichi Kamada’s effort ruled out for offside, and the hosts tried to respond quickly to fall behind.
Jean-Philippe Mateta headed just wide, although the play was again stopped by an offside decision.

The visitors remained dangerous on the counter-attack, while Palace struggled to convert their possession into clear-cut chances.
Wharton’s dismissal in the 77th minute made Palace’s task even more difficult, leaving Sage’s men chasing the game with 10 men.
