Comedian Stavros Halkias says the UFC’s support for Donald Trump has pushed him away from the sport of mixed martial arts (MMA).
His party didn’t, and now Trump is set to enter 2027 as a so-called lame duck president. Based on past experience, White will continue to support his bud, and there’s a good chance Trump will continue to appear at events. And Stavros? He’s sick of it.
“If you think Trump is awesome right now, you’re the dumbest person alive,” he said on a recent podcast episode. “You’re probably stupid or evil or both. And if you’re still sucking Trump’s c—k, you’re a god-damned fool. And I believe Dana White has been shoving him down his throat pretty well lately.”
“I was more of a fan when I was younger,” Stavros said. “My brother was really into (UFC) when we were kids, going to Buffalo Wild Wings and watching all the major pay-per-views. It’s a great memory of my teenage years. I got in and out and started playing sports again. And then, like the MAGA sucking really put a damper on that.”
“Look: Every sports team owner is a piece of s—-t. Usually. Maybe a couple aren’t. But there’s something unique about the UFC, like, ‘We suck Trump’s c–k’ and their willingness to be part of the propaganda. For me, it’s made it impossible to enjoy the sport as much as I do. But sometimes I still want to. I just don’t want them to have my money.”
First off, credit Stav for being part of Team B-Dub when that was still the case. Between 2008 and 2016, you could go to Buffalo Wild Wings and not pay a cover to catch a packed fight. It was an era that saw the rise of Ronda Rousey, Conor McGregor and is considered a true golden age.
How many of those people have turned off the UFC, making Trump the centerpiece of the past few years, is unclear, but you’d be foolish to think it hasn’t alienated a whole segment of the population, including Stavros.
