Celtics center Nehemiah of Quetta was the primary starter for the first time in his career last season, but that position could be dangerous after the team added Mitchell Robinson in free agency. Cveto is happy Robinson is now in Boston and doesn’t care who gets the starting job, Harry Thompson of the Boston Globe writes in history only for subscribers.

Cveto proved he can handle the role of a starter, averaging 10.2 points, 8.4 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 76 games. After awarding a a four-year, $56 million extension in July, Queta spent the summer focusing on a few specific skills.
“I worked on different aspects of the game, I was more versatile in attack, I was more complete.” he said. “Making the right decisions with the ball, whether it’s a pass or an opportunity to take your own shot.”

Pritchard became a reserve again after Anfernie Simons trade because the team needed another ball-handler off the bench, but his role for next season has yet to be determined. Terada points out that the Celtics now have an experienced backup point guard with an addition Mike Conley and suggests Pritchard could alternate between starter and backup over the course of the season.
- Chris Forsberg of NBC Sports Boston and several other staff members are projecting the Celtics’ starting lineup for this season. Forsberg notes that Mazzulla used 23 different starting combinations during the 2025/26 season, with most of the changes occurring on the wing, while Jason Tatum was unavailable.
