Puppy Hawkins has more wins in BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing’s Trigon than any other fighter. The 28-year-old Chicago native, one of 13 children, has won championships at 175 and 185 pounds, the latter by forfeit.
Professional fighter league and
Ultimate Fighting Championship veteran Jesse Ronson.
Hawkins, nicknamed The Savage, owns a 10-1 bare-knuckle boxing record, with nine wins by knockout or TKO.

His next challenge is Rowdy Legend Montgomery. At 6-foot-1, Montgomery has a 6-inch height advantage over the 5-foot-5 Hawkins. The two will meet in a 160-pound bout by BKB on Friday, October 23rd at Bally’s Fightnight at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi.
Hawkins doesn’t spend much time studying Montgomery.
“I don’t really know anything about him,” he told Sherdog.com. “I just know I’m going to show up and do what I do.”
Hawkins and his team have not developed a specific strategy for Montgomery.
“We’re just preparing for our fight and we’re just training like we normally train.”
Hawkins is confident about the outcome.
“Of course, if I raise my hand.”
Bare-knuckle boxing has suited Hawkins well.
“I think it’s a mental game — who’s stronger. And I like that.”
He also understands the danger of injuring his hands when landing a punch.
“I know how much power I’m using and it’s just something you have to pay attention to.”
Hawkins prepared under the head coach Jesse Brocka Bellator MMA,
Resurrection Fighting Alliance and
World Series of Fighting veteran. His main sparring partners were professional fighters Raymond Lawley and Andrew Cruzwho also as a coach at SBG Idaho.
Potential matches between BKB fighters and rival promotion BKFC intrigue some fans, but Hawkins doubts such crossovers will happen.
“They would never do that.”
Ultimately, he sees a bright future with his current promotion.
“I’m a champion and that’s the goal – to stay a champion.”
He’ll get another chance to build on that success Friday night.
