UFC Edmonton went down last night (Saturday, October 17, 2026) in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, which saw Mike Malott deliver an epic highlight reel knockout Joaquin Buckley evening at the main event (see it again here). At the joint main event Jasmine Jasudavicius defeated Erin Blanchfield by unanimous decision to help her improve her position in the women’s flyweight rankings (summary here).
Biggest winner: Mike Malott
Malott has been quietly making moves in recent years, racking up four straight wins in a crowded lightweight division. But he was anything but quiet last night in Edmonton electric knockout victory over Buckley in the second round of his first ever title fight. This is without a doubt the biggest win of his career, and now that he has five straight wins in his back pocket, he will drop into the Top 10 next week. Every fighter wants a win to get over him, and that’s exactly what “Proper” needed for his career.
Second place: Cristian Perez and Jasmine Jasudavicius
UFC jitters have proven to be real, but Perez looked like a legitimate veteran last night despite making his Octagon debut just two months after his knockout victory. Contender series. And he did it by coming out of the gate strong and aggressive and striking out Kyle Nelson in just 27 seconds. It’s not a bad way to introduce yourself to the masses, and it’s also a great way fatten your bank account. Perez now has seven of his last seven victories by stoppage, so he has proven that he will be one to watch on TV moving forward.
As for Jasudavicius, he scored the biggest upset win of his UFC career by cutting the class. Erin Blanchfield after 15 minutes of back and forth action. It’s a big statement for Jasudavicius, as Blanchfield is currently ranked No. 3 at 125 pounds, and a win likely would have put him in the championship conversation. However, those talks must now include the Canadian-born star, who is on a two-fight winning streak and is 7-1 in his last eight fights.
Biggest Loser: Nate Landwehr
Coming into the event, Landwehr was who we thought he was the fighter who needed the win the most after losing his last three fights. But instead of getting “The Train” back on track, he kept going after he was derailed knocked out by Almond Nallo in the second round, handed him his fourth straight loss. To make matters worse, he has been knocked out in each of those losses, making him 1-5 in his last six games. I don’t see how the promotion can justify keeping him based on this recent slide, so Landwehr’s UFC career could very well be over after last night.
