Manchester United striker Benjamin Sesko has vowed to “dedicate himself fully” to recovering from his shin problem after being ruled out of Slovenia’s upcoming matches.
The 23-year-old joined United from Leipzig last August in a deal worth £66.3m and scored 12 goals in his first season at Old Trafford, but his campaign ended early after he picked up a shin problem in May.
Injury was also avoided dry from featuring in any of United’s pre-season friendlies, although he returned to action at the start of the new campaign and played in each of their first six games.
Sesko scored twice during that run before suffering a recurrence of shin pain, ruling him out of Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Fulham.

Sesko said he was “very sorry” to lose the one in Slovenia League of Nations Games in September and October, hosting Scotland and North Macedonia and visiting Switzerland and the Tartan Army.
“I have always played for Slovenia and I will always play with heart and pride,” Sesko wrote on Instagram. “The most important thing now is to dedicate myself fully to recovery.
“I am already working to return to the field as soon as possible and help the national team and the club again.
“I believe in our boys, and I’m sure they will show the team spirit that has always graced us this time.
“I can’t wait to wear the national emblem shirt again and until then I’ll be Slovenia’s biggest fan.”
Sesko among four United players to miss international duty
Sesko is one of four United players who have withdrawn from international duty during the three-week break.
Kobbie Mainoo and Marcus Rashford have withdrawn England team, while Karl Darlow will not join Wales.
United have confirmed that each player will undergo an individual recovery program while the club’s first team is out of action.
“Each of the players will be assessed and undergo individual recovery plans during the current three-week international break.”
