The winners of the 2026 Ballon d’Or The goalkeeper of the year winners have been announced with Unai Simon and Cata Coll collecting the awards.
The duo are Spain’s fifth winners at the Ballon d’Or ceremony so far, with the likes of Lamine Yamal, Luis de la Fuenta and Vicky López also enjoying success in London on Monday night.
Simon collected the award for the first time after conceding just one goal as Spain won the World Cup in the summer.
The Athletic Bilbao cap said: “Well done Cata (Coll). A real honor for me to be here tonight.
“An award that would not be possible for all these people, I have to thank my parents and my brother, who brought me up with these principles and values.
“I know this is a very chaotic world and she (the couple) brings me some peace of mind.”
Coll was equally important as Barcelona Femini won the Women’s Champions League and Liga F.
He said: “It is a privilege to share this event and to share this stage with the Spaniard (Unai Simon).
“There is no greater honor than this.
“Thank you to my national team for allowing me to represent my country and allowing me to be better.
“This may be an individual award, but they always say that you can’t achieve these achievements without everyone participating.”
