It’s been about six months since wrestling fans saw Drew McIntyre in a WWE ring. According to a new report, however, that status may be about to change for good.
It Wrestling Observer Newsletter: reports that McIntyre should be returning to WWE programming “soon,” adding that most of his acting commitments have been completed.
Outside of the WWE bubble, The Scottish Warrior has been busy filming two new movies, The Last Druid and Highlander. In both projects, McIntyre will star alongside Academy Award-winning actor Russell Crowe. “Highlander” also marks the second silver screen collaboration between McIntyre and former WWE star Dave Bautista. They previously worked together on The Assassin’s Creed, a 2024 action film in which McIntyre played Scottish assassin Rory Mackenzie.
In addition to the latest action flicks, McIntyre joined the first WWE x ReelShort micro-drama alongside WWE stars Jacob Fatu and Joe Hendry. Its shooting is said to have been completed recently the vertical entertainment series, which is slated to launch this fall.
WWE’s latest feud with McIntyre saw him take on Fatu in an unsanctioned match at WrestleMania 42. Whether they will resume their storyline after McIntyre returns to WWE TV is unclear. Currently, Fatu is embroiled in a chaotic history with 946 stables, Jaida Parker, the newest member, ran him over with a car last Monday on WWE Raw.
Prior to his hiatus, McIntyre was a regular on the WWE SmackDown brand. During that time, the brand acquired CM Punk, GUNTHER, Finn Balor and the returning Kevin Owens, all of whom have a history with McIntyre.
