Nae wind, nae golf, the Scots like to say.
It turns out the opposite may also be true. Too much wind, golf.
That was the case at the PGA Tour’s Butterfield Bermuda Championship at Port Royal GC where wild wind conditions, including gusts of up to 40 mph, led to the cancellation of Sunday’s final. None of the 72 players remaining in the field started their fourth round, and with the wind refusing to let up, the Tour decided to call it a day. The 2026 Butterfield would be a 54-hole tournament.
But he was still undecided! Because Austin Smotherman and Seamus Power were tied for the lead at 16 under. That meant the duo would return to Port Royal for — weather permitting — a Monday morning sudden-death playoff. The dual starts at 8 am local time, which is 9 am ET.
