England’s Mimi Rhodes, Charlotte Heath and Annabell Fuller saw their hopes dashed on the final day of the China Aramco Championship as Spain’s Ana Pelaez cruised to her second Ladies European Tour title with a nine-under round that included a hole-in-one.
Heath shared the lead with Pelaez’s compatriot Luna Sobron in the 16th after the third round in Shenzhen, with Rhodes one shot behind and Fuller three shots adrift.
Fuller looked superb Sunday with four birdies in her first six holes to lift her to 16 under, but then she recorded three birdies on the back nine before a closing birdie to finish at 14 under and tied for ninth after a one-under day, six shots behind Pelaez.
With Heath only able to score a one-bar 73, mixing two birdies with as many bogeys, Rhodes, a three-time winner on the Ladies’ European Tour in 2025, was the highest-placed English contingent, finishing joint second on 17 under.
The 24-year-old, who made her Solheim Cup debut in September when Team Europe defeated Team USA in the Netherlands, recorded birdies at 4 and 17 as she signed for a flawless two-under 71.
Pelaez was unstoppable on the day, her week-long 64 at Mission Hills with seven birdies, including three in a row to finish, and an ace at the par-3 13th as she claimed her first tournament victory since the 2022 Madrid Ladies Open.
Pelaez’s Spaniard Sobron finished tied for third at 16-under 73, along with Heath and China’s Shiyuan Zhou, Ruixin Liu and Liqi Zeng.
Another Englishwoman, Alice Hewson, finished 20th at 11 under.
Sakuma claims first LPGA Tour title
On the LPGA Tour, Shuri Sakuma won her first circuit title with a four-shot victory at the Toto Japan Classic in her home country.
Sakuma, who has won eight times previously on the LPGA of Japan Tour, shot a closing round of eight-under 64 to reach 20-under for the tournament, with 54-hole leader Akie Iwai finishing second at 16-under 16 after a one-under 71 at the Taihelyo Club Minori Course.
The Toto Japan Classic was the final leg of the LPGA Tour’s final Asian Swing, following the Buick LPGA Shanghai in China, the BMW Ladies in South Korea and the Maybank Championship in Malaysia.
The tour returns to the US next week for The Annika in Florida, live on Sky Sports Golf and Sky Sports Main Event from 4pm on Thursday.
Sweden’s Linn Grant won the event in 2025 after Nelly Korda had done so in three of the previous four seasons.
