Joao Felix scored the only goal as Al Nasr beat NEOM 1-0, with Cristiano Ronaldo missing a penalty in the first half.

The Portuguese midfielder struck from outside the area in the 61st minute to settle a closely contested game, although NEOM came within inches of equalizing soon after.

The visitors started brightly, with Mohannad Abu Taha firing over from distance before Khalil Al Absi headed wide following a counter-attack.

Said Benrahma tested Al Nassr Bento, while Sadio Mane and Ronaldo missed chances at the other end.

Félix forced Marcin Bulka into a save in the 31st minute, before Ronaldo headed in Nawaf Bu Washl’s cross.

Al Nassr had a golden chance to take the lead in first-half stoppage time when Felix was fouled inside the penalty area by Mohammed Al Dossary.

After a VAR review, the referee awarded a penalty, but Ronaldo dragged his effort wide of the left post.

The home side continued to create chances after the break, with Ronaldo firing over from close range before Samu Costa and Íñigo Martínez headed wide.

Finally, the breakthrough came just after the hour mark when Angelo set up Félix, who fired a right-footed shot from outside the area into the net.

NEOM almost responded six minutes later when former Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette met Giorgos Masouras’ cross, only to see his header hit the right post.

Ronaldo had a chance to double Al Nassr’s lead in the 74th minute but headed his shot just wide.

Benrahma tried his luck from distance at the end, although NEOM couldn’t find an equaliser.
