AEW star Tommaso Ciampa is looking to wrestle in NJPW and has his sights set on one man. in an interview with SBNation:Ciampa said he wants to wrestle former IWGP Heavyweight Champion Shingo Takagi.
“Shingo always jumps out at me as someone I’ve always wanted to share a ring with,” Ciampa said. “I don’t know that right now my body or personal life bodes well for a full tour or the G1, but doing a show here or there, or three shows, I’d be 100% open to it.”
Takagi has had his share of matches with AEW talent of late. Over the summer, he wrestled the late Pac and Claudio Castagnoli in a tag match and blamed them for his poor showing at G1. After summoning Castagnoli, he defeated him Devastation last month. He is slated to face the returning John Moxley Power Struggle on November 3.
As for Ciampa, he wrestled Andrade El Idolo for the AEW WrestleDream National Championship. He was brief, but struck a few comical poses against the champion, ripping off his pants to reveal black trunks emblazoned with the words “I Just Know” in response to El Idolo’s “How You Know.” phrase — and attack and pin El Idolo’s pants until the pants come off both of them.
