Stephen Borden, son of the legendary Sting, discussed his decision to become a wrestler and the moment that made him become one.
Borden decided to become a wrestler later than most wrestlers, having his first match just last year at the age of 30. AEW’s new star got the wrestling bug when he appeared alongside his father at the Revolution 2024 pay-per-view, which marked Sting’s final match in professional wrestling. Speaking of “Good karma wrestlingpodcast, he said he doesn’t want to regret not trying his hand at being a wrestler.
“During the revolution, at my dad’s retirement match (that’s when I knew I wanted to be a wrestler). Watching him swim off into the sunset and realizing that my life is going to go by fast too and I’m going to be his age one day and I could either look back and say, you know, you know, I could look back or say what I wanted to do. “I just didn’t want to live with that ‘what if’ question. So it happened right after the revolution, pretty much.”
Borden appeared at the Revolution pay-per-view alongside his brother Garrett, where Stephen was dressed as nWo Wolfpac Sting and his brother as Surfer Sting. The duo even played a role in a tag team match involving their father, landing The Young Bucks.
Borden made his pay-per-view debut at All Outwhen he teamed up with Darby Allyn, and The Borden brothers are also set to team up for an independent show in NovemberGarrett followed in their father’s footsteps and started his own wrestling career.
