It was an emotional week for everyone at All Elite Wrestling.
On September 5, Andy Williams, better known to AEW fans as The butcher died at the age of 48 After collapsing at an Enjoy Wrestling event in Millvale, Pennsylvania. Four days later, on September 9th, the stars of AEW reunited Rebel Heart Edition “AEW Dynamite”, show to help Tanea “Rebel” Brooks fight ALS as well as spread awareness about the disease. Then on September 12, that night’s episode “AEW Clash” It was a full tribute to The Butcher, complete with a charity battle royale and many tributes sent in by AEW wrestlers.
In light of all of these events, AEW decided to dig into their archives and release a previously unaired event featuring both The Butcher and Rebel.The house always wins.“
On April 9, 2021 at Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida, “The House Always Wins” was AEW’s first house show, originally scheduled to be held in front of a small audience during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, due to how popular both The Butcher and Rebel are on the show, AEW released the show in its entirety on both their official YouTube channel and the MyAEW streaming service.
The show features The Butcher in both the show opener and main event. He both competed in and won a 15-man royal to beat Darby Allyn for the AEW TNT Championship in the main event, while Rebel teamed up with Dr. Britt Baker DMD, Nyla Rose and The Bunny to face Hikaru Shida, Ty Conti (now known as Ty Melo), Red Velvet and R. Additionally, the show also features Street Fight between Cody Rhodes and Aaron Solo, Jade Cargill’s fourth match and one of Konosuke Takeshita’s first AEW in-ring appearances.
