AEK Larnaca review C.A.R.E.S. social programme after ‘successful’ first year

October 8: The management of AEK Larnaca FC in Cyprus has reviewed the success of the first year of its social programme, AEK CARES (Community, Awareness, Responsibility, Commitment, Support) and presented an ambitious roadmap for the next period.

Keynote speakers at the press conference included AEK board member Andreas Pavlides, Paola Karapataki, SLK Development Director Rabea Sajrawi and Marketing Director Christoforos Stylianou.

The event began with a retrospective video showing the achievements of the initiative, which included raising more than 100,000 euros for charitable causes, supporting forest fire victims and organizing a huge charity concert with Sakis Rouvas that generated 43,601 euros for the cancer support organization PASYKAF.

Building on this strong foundation, AEK Larnaca announced a comprehensive list of future projects aimed at strengthening community ties and supporting those in need. The club will continue its partnership with PASYKAF by planning another charity concert for September 2027, while collaborating with Hope for Children on a dedicated music and funday event.

In addition, AEK CARES will fund experiential workshops for the Cyprus Autism Association for the 2026/27 academic year, host members of the autism association on team placements and organize a festive Christmas visit.

A joint fundraising event with the Larnaca Red Cross is also scheduled at the Metropolis Mall, along with a 50% discount on match tickets for members of the Large Families Association.

In an effort to support social reintegration, the club is extending vital resources to Aris FC, a team made up of people recovering from addiction, giving them free access to the Nikolas Theodotou training center and covering their equipment and clothing costs.

Finally, combining social responsibility with cultural preservation, the initiative released a trailer for a new historical documentary entitled “From Ancient Kition to Present-Day Larnaca”, produced in collaboration with the acclaimed team Machine of Time.

The documentary will be premiered at K Cineplex, aired on television and official media channels and screened for primary school students in the Larnaca district to foster regional pride and historical awareness among young people.
