September 18: Benfica and adidas have extended their long-standing partnership to 2033 and taken it a step further with the name adidas Benfica Campus at the club’s training and development center in Seixal.
The six-year renewal keeps adidas as Benfica’s technical partner in playing and training wear. Attaching the brand to one of Benfica’s most important facilities, in a place that has become central to the club’s famous player development model, turns the academy itself into a year-round sponsorship asset. The campus, opened in 2006, celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2026.
Benfica president Rui Costa said it is a new chapter. “Adidas has been part of some of the most memorable moments in the history of Sport Lisboa and Benfica,” he said, adding that the naming rights recognize “a space that is fundamental to the Club’s present and future, a place where we train athletes, nurture dreams and build the next generations of Benfica talent.”
Adidas’ general manager of football, Sam Handy, called Benfica “one of football’s great institutions”, and described the campus as representing “the future of the club, a place where talent is developed and ambitions are realised”.
The relationship is deep. It has been continuous since 1997 after a period before the 1980s. The edition of training centers follows a trend of clubs turning their academies and training grounds into commercial platforms. For adidas, whose boots and equipment are part of world football’s DNA, it means visibility in Benfica’s senior and youth ecosystem throughout the year.
