After the first one reports PWInsider on Tuesday, that WWE backstage executive Bruce Pritchard is set to retire from WWE after WrestleMania 43new details have been revealed regarding his impending departure. Pritchard is currently the executive director of creative writing and talent, a position he has held at the company since June 2020.
According to Fightful SelectPritchard is in need of “very major surgery” and sources have claimed that he will remain with WWE but work more from home. An internal memo about the former Good Brother was released earlier this year within the company regarding his status, but details were not available. The magazine also reports that Prichard has been filling in for Paul “Triple H” Levesque in recent weeks while Levesque has been out on vacation.
Fightful also noted that when asked about Pritchard’s return on the Something to Wrestle podcast, co-host Conrad Thompson said they might “figure something out” once Pritchard no longer lives in Stamford, Connecticut, home of WWE headquarters. Thompson said he thinks that will be the “foreseeable future” of his former co-host.
PWI said Pritchard’s new advisory role after his retirement will allow him to no longer live in Stamford. Faithfull also noted that they have heard that Pritchard’s situation will likely allow him to move out of the area, but there has been no talk of him returning to the podcast. Something to Wrestle continued with WWE Hall of Famer John Bradshaw Layfield behind the mic with Thompson.
A source tells PWI that while Pritchard’s reported retirement or role change is rumored to take place after WrestleMania next year, as with anything else in professional wrestling, the timing is subject to change. No reports have indicated a possible replacement for him.
