John Cena’s WWE Retirement Tour saw the legend cross with the likes of CM Punk, Brock Lesnar and Randy Orton, as well as teaming with Rey Mysterio and Sheamus. Fans even got to see him face off against AJ Styles one last time. Still, many felt the overall matches were underrated, especially since he was never able to face some of his most important opponents, such as Batista and Adam “The Edge” Copeland.
Copeland recently sat down with Mick Foley about his “The Mick and Kenny Show“A podcast where he said there would be no obstacles.
“I know I was open to it,” Copeland admitted. “I know Tony (Khan) was open to it.”
The veteran previously commented on his and Khan’s openness to a WWE one-offwhich suggests it’s ultimately up to WWE to share their enthusiasm. Copeland also acknowledged the importance of his history with Cena, but said he didn’t believe WWE would have made the match after his years in the promotion.
Earlier this year, Cena also shared why he believes both Copeland and Orton are his two biggest rivalsand explained how important both men are to his WWE career.
Although Copeland was unable to make the tribute show clash, he still managed to pay tribute to Cena when he had the AEW All Out 2025 Openerhitting both the Five-Knuckle Shuffle and the Attitude Adjustment on Cash Wheeler during the match.
