Aaron Pico isn’t done with Lerone Murphy: ‘I know I can beat him’

Aaron Pico is sure he can hit Lerone Murphy in the rematch.

Pico did his
Ultimate Fighting Championship
debut against Murphy at
UFC 319
last year. Murphy knocked Pico out with a spinning back elbow in the opening round, and the latter now wants to run it back.

Why does Aaron Pico want another shot at Lerone Murphy?

Pico believes he beat Murphy before getting caught with a spinning elbow. Former Bellator
the fighter is confident of beating Murphy in a rematch and believes a win over the Englishman will move him closer to a title shot.

“I want this fight,” Pico told MMA Junkie. “And people start asking me, ‘Why do you want this fight?’ I am a competitor; I want to fight and get it back. Obviously, if you watch the fight, I beat him. I would have just been a little smarter and won it. But there are many lessons to be learned from the loss. And that’s why I’d like to bring it back. And why shouldn’t I? He is Top 5 in the world, so that brings me closer to fighting for the title and I know I can beat him.

Pico (15-5) has since bounced back with wins Patrick Freire and Losene Keita. Meanwhile, Murphy (17-1-1) suffered his first pro loss after defeating Pico in a featherweight title eliminator. Movsar Evloev.
