Ultimate Fighting Championship title.
While Walker is a feared leg lock submission artist, he is not an elite striker. “The Foot Hunter” recently admitted that his kicking is not up to par due to a bad leg on his feet. Walker revealed that his footwork is poor as his toes are curled, which limits his ability to be light on his feet.
Valter Walker says childhood shoe problems left him with crooked toes and poor footwork
Coming from a poor background, Walker had no money to buy new shoes as his feet grew. Wearing undersized shoes took a long time to damage his toes, which is now taking its toll. He claims this question is the biggest stumbling block to his becoming a champion.
“I have a really big problem with my footwork,” Walker told Full Mount MMA. “My foot is not very good because when I was young, I didn’t have money to buy new shoes. All the time my foot was growing and the shoes were smaller than my foot. The toes are a little (curved). And because of that, I have a little footwork problem. And I don’t know how I can be a champion.”
Although Walker (16-1) is not yet in the UFC heavyweight title picture, he has risen quickly. The 28-year-old has won five straight since suffering his only pro loss in his UFC debut in 2024.
