The Indianapolis Colts and Kansas City Chiefs played a Week 2 instant classic on Sunday Night Football, and it ended in the best streak of the 2026 season so far. The Chiefs beat the Colts 33-30 in overtime on a game-winning field goal by Harrison Butker. Kansas City thought they had won the game early in overtime, but a controversial call by the ref gave the Colts another chance.
After the end of the game, the Chiefs entered the field with a score of 27-27, but they had to score a field goal on the 10-meter line. The Colts had one more chance to tie or win the game, and immediately madness ensued.
On their first play of overtime, Colts QB Daniel Jones launched a deep pass that fell into the open arms of receiver Laqun Treadwell. Treadwell moved the ball down the ground, secured the ball and rose up. When Treadwell returns. Kansas City cornerback Noah Williams punched the ball away.
The Cavaliers ruled it a fumble at first, and Kansas City recovered and the game was over. With the game hanging in the balance, the play was reviewed and the refs decided to overturn the call. Treadwell was judged on the touchline before getting back up and furious. Indianapolis would eventually score the game-tying field goal.
