Leeds ‘not getting carried away’ after rising to third with Newcastle thrashing

Jayden Bogle insisted Leeds are “not getting carried away” despite moving up to third Premier League with a dominant 4-1 win at Newcastle.

Leeds ran amok at Elland Road, with Bogle credited with the second goals after Dominic Calvert-Lewin headed home an own goal for the third, with a Sean Steur own goal and a Noah Okafor rounding out the scorers.

Daniel Farke’s men remain unbeaten in the top flight this season and are now third in the top flight, while also handing Newcastle their first defeat of the season.

Of Leeds’ ambitions, Bogle told Sky Sports: “At the moment we’re taking it game by game, we can’t get carried away.

“Everyone is ambitious in their own way, but as a group, we will stay focused and focus on the next game.”

Leeds continue to impress in 2026

Leeds’ success this season dates back to the start of the year, with few teams improving on their form in 2026.

Only Arsenal (52), Manchester City (50), Manchester United (45) and Bournemouth (37) have taken more Premier League points in 2026 than Leeds United (35), and the Whites have suffered just one defeat in their last 13 league games (W6 D6).

Bogle added: “It’s about working and understanding the players and playing with them.

“Dom (Calvert-Lewin) is in the middle competing for everything, getting players alongside him and under him is huge for us. It paid off tonight.

“We worked on the rotation, JJ (James Justin) was going a little taller and wider at times, which left the pocket open for me to get into.

“Dom (Calvert-Lewin) occupies two central positions. It’s about getting into an area where the ball could go. We’ve tried different patterns and moves that we’ve worked on in training to make space.”

“We wanted to get off to a good start today, get the fans hooked and keep going. We did that to start, it was all about keeping it going and keeping the energy high.

“It was a tough game, a lot of running, it was tough physically. They (Newcastle) are a superior team, they can hurt you at any time.”
