Wales Hopeful Megan Davey doesn’t believe the team has a “losing mentality”.

In front WXV Global Series 2026, Wales have not won a Test match since July 2025. That win in Australia against the Wallaroos is the only win Sean Lynn has had since the start of his tenure as head coach.

Ahead of their autumn block of fixtures, Wales have fallen to 13th in the world rugby rankings, a record low for the team since the rankings began.

In June, Wales beat the Barbarians 34-17 at the Allianz Stadium. Hopefully, the result could help propel the team into WXV Global Series home games South Africa and USA Women’s Eagles. The team will then travel to Japan for two tests in October.

“I don’t think it has shaken the thinking of a lot of people here (Wales’ form),” Davey said.

“The mindset is always that we’re going to win – that’s how we get there. There’s definitely no losing mentality in this team.”

“I don’t think there’s any weak mentality here. In training, it’s the hardest training I’ve ever participated in. There’s no doubt they’re not training with that intensity to win.”

Davey is keen to make the most of his opportunity in Wales following a late call-up to Sean Lynn’s WXV Global Series squad.

The 26-year-old Loughborough Lightning scrum-half was invited to a camp in Wales at the end of August. She is the leading cap-maker in JAECOO Premiership Women’s Rugby, having made 124 appearances for the East Midlanders.

Earlier in 2026, Davey was named in the Wales squad for the first time during the 2026 Guinness Women’s Six Nations. Qualifying through her grandfather, Davey did not earn her first Test.

Initially not included in Lynn’s WXV squad, she entered the camp three weeks later than the other players and had to “step up” in a very competitive group of half-backs.

“I was really excited, but I was really nervous,” Davey said of her late call. “I knew everyone had been there for three weeks and there’s always that thing when you go into an environment that’s already established – you wonder, how am I going to do? But I rarely leave.”

“I was a bit sad not to be in the team to begin with, but you’ve just got to keep doing what you’re doing. I was really happy to get the chance and take it.”
