Samuel Shaw First established his take on serial killers like Patrick Bateman or Dexter Morgan in TNAbefore bringing the character to WWE as “Dexter Loomis”, which he played during his first run. However, his character in WWE has been completely muted compared to TNA’s soft-spoken version, which the man behind the gimmick discussed during an appearance on The People .INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet“.
Shaw claimed that more and more fans are reaching out to him at conventions, praising his recent work on the TV series Tacoma PD, where many first heard his voice.
“I’m actually talking. You know, I was playing a character,” he said. When asked why his Dexter Loomis character is silent, Shaw said he doesn’t really know why WWE took that creative direction, but he’s always had his own rule about it. “Everyone is talking. Almost too much in my opinion. So how can I be different?”
Building on all of this, Shaw said that he’s always tried to stand out to fans in some way, shape or form, and playing a quiet yet imposing character was almost overwhelming, he said.
“Like, this guy just, you know, he just has a cold look and doesn’t talk,” she said, adding that this wound becomes the focus of her character’s challenge. “Can I evoke emotion from fans without saying a word? Can I make them feel certain? Can I get the emotion I’m trying to convey to these fans without saying anything? And it became a goal, a mission.”
