Liverpool 0-0 Fulham: Report, result, goals from Premier League as Reds are held and Cottagers claimed deserved point

Fulham picked up their first Premier League point through Alvaro Arbeloa as they held Liverpool to a goalless draw at Anfield.

The Cottagers head to Merseyside on the back of three league defeats in a row, with some fans booed during their 3-2 home defeat. in the Crystal Palace at Craven Cottage last time.

But they were much more solid defensively against a Liverpool side who worked for long periods three days later Champions League win at Atlético de Madrid.

Indeed, Fulham had the chance to claim all three points and could return to west London with a point to regret after failing to do so.

While Fulham are off the mark, Liverpool will be frustrated after drawing for the third time in four games. They could finish the weekend already six points off the top.

Alexandre Isak He missed an early chance when he shot wide after timing his run perfectly to collect Bradley Barcola’s pass.

But Liverpool were almost punished by a terrible mistake from goalkeeper Alisson, whose ill-advised pass to Ryan Gravenberch saw the Reds concede possession and gift Fulham a great chance.

Josh King took out Gonzalo Garcia, only for Jeremy Jacquet to save Alisson’s blushes by clearing off the line.

Liverpool struggled to dominate the game in the way most would have expected, but only the crossbar prevented Victor Munoz from giving them a first-half lead when he headed onto the woodwork from Dominik Szoboszlai’s corner.

Florian Wirtz then fired wide from a tight angle as Liverpool continued to be frustrated by an impressive display from Fulham, which continued into the second half.

Szoboszlai had an effort beaten away by Bernd Leno after an exchange with Alexis Mac Allister, but Liverpool were grateful to Alisson to preserve parity as he denied Josh King with an acrobatic save.

Liverpool applied pressure in the Fulham end and Isak headed home from a stoppage-time corner, but that proved to be the Reds’ last chance as the Cottagers deservedly held on to a share of the spoils.
