Former professional wrestler Bill Goldberg says his in-ring career was tragically cut short when his leg was “irreparably damaged” by a particularly “cruel” headbutt from rival Bret Hart.
“I was on a great streak until that clumsy so-called Hitman recklessly rammed his head into my right leg,” Goldberg told Kayfabe News.
The incident in question occurred at Starrcade ’99, when Hart targeted the already damaged arch of Goldberg’s right foot, which Goldberg had injured during his football career with the Atlanta Braves.
After the attack, Goldberg’s wrestling career quickly deteriorated, resulting in long-term plantar fasciitis in his right leg. Meanwhile, Bret Hart claims the maneuver also hurt his head.
Goldberg continues to treat the leg injury bitterly. “Bret Hart wasn’t in the ring, he couldn’t tell his wrist from his wristwatch.”
