These iron shafts dominated on the PGA Tour this season

Perhaps the most dominant brand in any equipment category in golf is True Temper with their iron shafts.

Not only did the company’s Dynamic Gold iron shaft once again lead the PGA Tour in wins in 2026 with 16, but the company’s Project X brand was second with seven wins. A third sub-brand, AeroTech SteelFiber, also made a W this season.

When you throw in the wedge (which the rankings below don’t), all but one winner this past Tour season carried at least one True Temper shaft in their bag.

With this context, the following list of the most winners iron barrels of the 2026 season of the FedEx Cup (American Express to Tour Championship) will not surprise you.

The most winning irons during the 2026 FedEx Cup season

No. 1: True Temper Dynamic Gold (16 wins)

The DG is known as the “Gold Standard” since it was one of the first (or him top) iron on the PGA Tour virtually since its introduction in the 1980s.

The world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler uses the X100 such as Collin Morikawa, JJ Spaun, Ryan Fox and Michael Thorbjornsen, who each won once this season. Russell Henley also used the X100 in his mid and short irons before creating a unique combo with the AMT White in his long irons.

Cameron Young is Wyndham Clark combined for five wins with the stouter X7 flex.

Interestingly, Bud Cauley and Aaron Rai both used the standard S300 version. In addition to being stiff as opposed to the Extra Stiff options, they were also not the Tour Issue like the other winners. Dynamic Gold Tour Issue shafts are ordered to a tighter weight tolerance and are almost always preferred on the PGA Tour.

#2: Project X Rifle (7 wins)

Within the True Temper catalog is also the Stepless shafts of Project X, which can be found in the bags of some of them more aggressive swingers on the PGA Tour.

Case in point: Rory McIlroy is one of the only players who uses the Project X flex 7.0 in his irons, essentially the equivalent of the Dynamic Gold X7 in the Project X profile. Other PX winners this season were Jacob Bridgeman, JT Poston, Tom Kim, Stefano Mazzoli (only short irons), Jackson Koivun and Michael Brennan.

All of those players except Tom Kim used the 6.5 flex, generally considered X-Stiff. Kim played the sweetest 6.0 in her irons.

No. 3: KBS C-Taper (6 wins)

The C-Taper is another stout, stepless profile like Project X used by aggressive players. It should come as no surprise that the winners with the 130 X profile were among the Tour’s best players in driving distance this season: Gary Woodland, Chris Gotterup and Steven Fisk.

Justin Rose also won the C-Taper, but using the lighter and smoother 125 S+.

#4: Ping CFS X (3 wins)

The Ping CFS (Control, Feel, Stability) is probably the most unlikely addition to this list. It was a stock shaft that Ping made for their irons in the mid-2010s.

Matt Fitzpatrick loves the shaft and put them back in his irons a while back after using them for wins in 2022 and 2023, then winning three times this past season with them.

No. 5: Nippon NS Pro Modus3 Tour (2 wins)

This is an interesting one. Nippon’s Modus Tour 120, 125 and 130 have gained traction in recent years, and Nico Echavarria won the Cognizant Classic with the Modus 120 and 125 in his irons.

Stefano Mazzoli also won with a combo of the Modus profile in his irons, using the 120 in the long irons and then moving to the Project X in his 6-iron.
