Mike Malott may have punched his ticket to the top five earlier tonight (Saturday, October 17, 2026) at UFC Edmonton live on Paramount+ from Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada when the Canadian ended the show with a nasty second round knockout (knee and punch).
Ahead of the lightweight main event, the UFC Edmonton undercard finished with an astonishing 11 total in just 12 fights. Malott and Buckley had one more stop to make Saturday’s return to Canada even more memorable. Fortunately for everyone watching, Malott came through with a huge performance that sent the crowd into a frenzy and tied the UFC record for most finishes in a single event (12).
After the first round, which was a methodical chess match, the two lightweights opened up a bit in the second. That eventually led to an exchange that changed both men’s night. As Buckley was about to enter the attack, Malott landed a kick to the body and his knee connected to the chin. Buckley’s mouthpiece flew out and he fell to the canvas. Malott followed with a huge right hand and that was all he wrote. It was an incredible leveling moment for Malotti and a win that could put him in a huge fight next time around.
