The 2026 Presidents’ Cup begins on Thursday, September 24 with the first five team matches at Medina No. 3 in Chicago. Thursday’s Presidents Cup pairings and matchups will be revealed Wednesday afternoon at 4:45 pm ET. Once they are released, they will be reproduced at the bottom of this post. Until then, here’s what we know.
Presidents Cup Day 1 matches: What to know
The first day of play at the 2026 Presidents’ Cup features five matches. The format for all five matches on day 1 will be four balls. In four-ball, all four competitors play their own balls, with the lowest score on each team counting for each hole.
Each match will see two players from the team USA and two players from the International team. We don’t yet know who those players will be, but we do know how they are determined.
Each captain chooses which of his players compete in each match and in which match they play. But the captains do this job separately, because they don’t know which players the other captain will pick for each match.
Crucially, not all players compete in every session. Only 10 players on each team will compete on Thursday, leaving two per team to sit on the bench.
Captain US Brandt Snedeker and international captain Geoff Ogilvy will announce his selections for Thursday’s games Wednesday afternoon at 4:45 pm ET live on Golf Channel.
