Allan Alaalatoa is just two appearances away from becoming the ACT Brumbies’ all-time leading tackler, with the veteran prop among 15 Wallabies named in the club’s 2027 squad. Super Rugby Pacific season.
Alaalatoa is just a few appearances away from breaking Ben Alexander’s club record of 154 games. The 32-year-old made six appearances last season, including a start away to the potential champions Hurricanes in the playoffs.
Seven props are named in Brumbies squad for next season, with James Slipper heading into another campaign. ‘Slips’ broke Wyatt Crockett’s long-standing Super Rugby record last season and should add to that tally.
Coach Stephen Larkham has selected a well-known squad that boasts extensive experience across the board, with a total of 1,686 Super Rugby appearances between the 35 players. It’s a group that also includes some notable additions, including Triston Reilly who has brought back the electricity
Reilly captained the First Nations & Pasifika XV against a Tonga President’s XV earlier this year, and withdrew from NSW Waratahs to the capital. Leafi Talataina, TJ Talaileva and Aiden Stait have also signed contracts with the Brums until 2027.
Ex Australia Sevens representative Kye Oates made his debut for the Brumbies last season but his rookie campaign was cut short by injury. But the club announced this week that Oates had put pen to paper on a two-year contract extension until the end of 2028.
Uncapped Wallabies prospect Toby Macpherson, who was part of the best team for the Bledisloe Cup series and is now with Australia A, is part of the five-man contingent, along with Nick Frost, Lachie Shaw, Harvey Cordukes and Stait.
Rob Valitini is one of six loose forwards, the other being playable Wallaby Charlie Cale. Rory Scott, Eli Langi, Talataina and Talailev remain. In the backs, Ryan Lonergan, Declan Meredith, Tom Wright and Corey Toole were capped by the Wallabies.
But there is another Australian international in the centres, and it is a significant inclusion for the Brums heading into the new season. 2025 John Eales Medal (Wallabies Player of the Year) Len Ikitau is back after spending the 2025/26 PREM Rugby season with Exeter Chiefs.
