Yordenis Ugas Vows To Do Injury When He Faces Fabian Maidana

WBA welterweight champion Yordenis Ugas is delighted to showcase his skills against Fabian “TNT” Maidana on Saturday, August 21st, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The event is spearheaded by the welterweight clash between Manny Pacquiao and IBF, WBC World Champion Errol Spence.

The 35-year-old Ugas (26-4, 12 KOs) was already in action in September when he defeated Abel Ramos.

Ugas has won three straight bouts since losing a tight twelve-round decision to Shawn Porter in March 2019.

Maidana (18-1, 13 KOs) wants to step out of the shadow of his well-known older brother, the former two-tier champion Marcos Maidana.

The 29-year-old won his first 16 fights before losing a decision to Jaider Parra in January 2019. Since that defeat, Maidana has recovered with two straight wins.

Ugas could well land a reunification battle with the winner of the Pacquiao Spence main event – and therefore wants to make a showcase performance against Maidana.

“Everyone knows that I am a warrior and that I will fight everyone every day. When they presented me with this fight against Fabian Maidana, I accepted without hesitation, ”said Ugas.

“I will defend my WBA title and the world will see why I have to be seen on TV fighters who are known for leaving everything in the ring. One thing I know for sure, I will be flying my hands with evil intentions on August 21st. I would also like to dedicate this struggle to all the brave men, women and children who fight for their freedom in Cuba. Patria y Vida! “
