Quality before quantity.

There are only 10 games on Wednesday’s NCAA Women’s Division I volleyball schedule, but two of them have a huge impact.

Start the long-awaited bout at Lincoln when third-placed Wisconsin (17-1, 9-1) goes to No. 6 Nebraska (16-3, 10-0). It’s a match that could not only decide who wins the Big Ten, but also one that could kick the loser out of the top 4 finishes in the NCAA tournament. The game takes place on the Big Ten Network.

Wisconsin and Nebraska didn’t play last spring as their two games in Madison were canceled in late February. They last played in the NCAA regional finals on December 14, 2019, and Wisconsin swept Nebraska for the third time this season.

This season, Wisconsin, which has won nine straight wins since losing its Big Ten opener in Maryland, is # 3 on the NCAA RPI. Nebraska, which has won 10 in a row, all in the Big Ten, is No. 12 on the RPI.

Wisconsin have won the last five matches between the teams. Nebraska last won out of five in Lincoln on September 30, 2017. Nebraska leads the series 19-8-1 and is 10-2 at home.

Also in the Big Ten on Wednesday is No. 11 Minnesota, Indiana, and No. 12 Purdue is the home of Northwestern.

Also in the SEC, there’s a big one when No. 5 Kentucky (15-3, 8-0), which has won nine in a row, goes to No. 21 Tennessee (16-4, 8-2). Kentucky is number 6 on the RPI, while Tennessee is number 9. This game takes place on ESPNU. Also in the SEC, the state of Mississippi goes to Georgia and Missouri is in Arkansas.

The only Big 12 match has Texas Tech in Kansas State.

ACC, Pac-12, Big East, Conference USA and West Coast are off. In the American Athletic, Houston, two games before the UCF, tied for second place with idle Wichita State and Cincinnati, goes to Tulane.
