The Italian giants are hoping to land a deal for the midfielder this summer after his wonderful Euro 2020 campaign
Juventus Pavel Nedved confirmed that they are in talks with Sassuolo to buy Manuel Locatelli, while also confirming that they consider the club’s assessment of the Italian midfielder to be fair.
Locatelli was the subject of a strong Juve pursuit this summer after helping the Azzurri to the 2020 European title with his impressive individual performances.
But Turin may not have an easy path to a transfer as Arsenal are also interested in the star.
What would be said?
“We spoke to Sassuolo and made our offer that we believe is appropriate to the current climate, with the way that finances and the transfer market are affected by Covid,” explained Nedved Sport Mediaset on Saturday.
“We are convinced that this is a good and right offer. We are always confident, of course there are things in negotiations that need to be clarified and resolved.
“If you want a player and that player wants you, it’s clear.”
Juve … or the Gunners?
Giovanni Carnevali, CEO of Sassuolo, announced Thursday that Locatelli’s preferred destination is Turin, but that an unnamed English club are also in the running for their services following Arsenal’s earlier offer.
“He wants to go to Juve. We would like to sell Manuel to Juve … but they have to pay the right fee,” said Carnevali.
“Arsenal have applied to sign him and there is also a new English club in the running now,” he added.
Nedved also addressed rumors about the future of Cristiano Ronaldo, who has been linked to a Juve exit in recent weeks.
“Ronaldo is our player, his contract is still running for a year and we are happy to have him with us,” he said.
“He’s guaranteed goals every year and many of them too. He’s a top player and we’re counting on him.”
