DULUTH, GA – Atlanta Gladiators President Jerry James and head coach Jeff Pyle announced that veteran forward Mike Pelech has approved the terms for the 2021-22 season.
Pelech, 31, is starting his 13th season as a professional hockey player and his first with the Gladiators. Pelech is fourth in ECHL history for games played (767), third for templates (396) and 13th for points (575). When the Toronto, Ontario native puts on a gladiators sweater, he’ll be playing for his eighth ECHL team. Pelech has also skated in parts of five seasons in the American Hockey League.
He enters the 2021-22 season with 23 games before taking second place on the league’s list of all-time games played
Pelech originally signed with the Gladiators in July 2020 before Atlanta dropped out of the 2020-21 campaign. Last season, hw forward scored 34 points (10 goals – 24 assists) while the time was split between the Wheeling Nailers and the Indy Fuel.
Two of Pelech’s best seasons recently came in 2018-19 and 2019-20 with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits. Over that two-year period, he amassed 118 points (34 goals – 84 assists) in 135 regular season games, including 53 points (16 goals – 37 assists) in 2019-20 as the Greenville captain.
