UFC 265 odds: ‘Lewis vs Gane’ newest Vegas traces and betting information

Technical championship and raw horsepower collide in the battle for gold this Saturday, August 7, 2021 when Ciryl Gane competes against Derrick Lewis for the preliminary heavyweight title of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in Houston, Texas. UFC 265 also features a bantamweight crossroads match between Jose Aldo and Pedro Munhoz, as well as Michael Chiesa’s latest welterweight bout against division boogeyman Vicente Luque.

However, enjoying UFC 265’s primary pay-per-view (PPV) card will cost you, so let’s refund everything …

What went wrong? UFC Vegas 33?

Everything, basically. Rafa Garcia’s previously solid gas tank gave way to Chris Gruetzemacher, Bryan Barberena’s wrestling troubles came back to bite him against Jason Witt, and Orion Cosce let Philip Rowe back into the fight after a strong first round. Adrian Yanez and Zarrukh Adashev performed, but poor parlay management on my part made the event a complete dud.

UFC 265 odds for the Under Card:

Rafael Fizjew (-280) vs. Bobby Green (+240)
Drako Rodriguez (-115) versus Vince Morales (-105)
Alonzo Menifield (-240) vs. Ed Herman (+200)
Karolina Kowalkiewicz (-122) vs. Jessica Penne (+102)
Manel Kape (-185) vs. Ode Osbourne (+160)
Miles Johns (-210) vs. Anderson Dos Santos (+175)
Melissa Gatto (-110) versus Victoria Leonardo (-110)
Johnny Munoz Jr. (-255) vs. Jamey Simmons (+215)

Throughts: Miles Johns is as alluring as the last time these two signed to fight, and Jessica Penne, Alonzo Menifield and Johnny Munoz Jr.

My argument for “Chapo” is the same as before: tighter boxing and a superior wrestling game. As long as he stays active and doesn’t let Berinja lead him, he can win this fight with little more than a sharp jab and the occasional double leg.

It’s at least worth an investment.

Regarding “What have you been doing for me lately”, Penne has beaten Karolina Kowalkiewicz by a country mile. The Polish candidate has lost four times in a row and has been out since February 2020 when she was fought to death by a non-wrestler in Yan Xiaonan. Penne’s battle success against a very skilled fighter in Lupita Godinez makes her worth looking at as an outsider, especially when you compare her to someone like Rafael Fiziev for juicy odds.

Nobody can deny that Ed Herman is a real badass. However, he’s a 40-year-old badass who took all-time bad refereeing to beat the extremely limited Mike Rodriguez last time. Menifield is younger, faster, supposedly bigger, and hits a bit harder than Herman, which is enough to have me trust him

All Jamey Simmons really has to offer is solid wrestling, which is absolutely not the way to go against a world-class Brazilian jiu-jitsu artist like Johnny Munoz Jr. ”And during Munoz in his UFC debut loss to Nate Maness definitely slowed down, Simmons’ cardio is just as suspect.

In short, bet on Munoz.

UFC 265 odds for the main card:

Cyril Gane (-370) vs. Derrick Lewis (+310)
Jose Aldo (-110) versus Pedro Munhoz (-110)
Michael Chiesa (-110) vs. Vicente Luque (-110)
Tecia Torres (-135) versus Angela Hill (+115)
Casey Kenney (-122) vs. Song Yadong (+105)

Throughts: I was ready to write off Tecia Torres after losing four fights, but it’s easy to forget that three of the women who defeated her were former / future champions and the fourth, Marina Rodriguez, is an excellent striker with enormous size and reach Advantages. She looked like the “tiny tornado” of yore in her last two fights, and appears to have significant advantages in terms of speed and versatility against Hill. While I think Hill was on the wrong end of making wrong decisions against Claudia Gadelha and Michelle Waterson, the style match is all Torres.

Casey Kenney might be worth a look too. Losing to a killer like Kyler Phillips doesn’t break Song Yadong, but the wrestling troubles he showed against “Matrix” and his former opponent Marlon Vera bode well against a world-class floor specialist like Kenney, especially if you can considering how strong and durable Kenney is on the feet.

Kenney definitely strikes me as undervalued.

Gane was very good to me in these posts, so despite these adversities, it would be impolite of me to ignore his moment of triumph. He’ll do exactly what he did to Jairzinho Rozenstruik: take Lewis apart from a distance, protect himself from danger and ignore the boos to take the provisional title.

Beat “Bon Gamin” together and enjoy!
