Tiger Woods’ annual Hero World Problem fundraiser scheduled for December; discipline elevated to twenty

The Hero World Challenge, which will benefit the Tiger Woods Foundation, will take place as originally planned with an expanded field of participants.

Woods announced that the annual event in the Bahamas will increase from 18 to 20 players. He linked to a press release from his foundation.

The tournament will take place December 2-5 at the Albany Golf Club. It was canceled in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. Henrik Stenson won in 2019.

The tournament now invites the Players Championship winner as well as the Major Championship winners and the defending champion of the year. Since there was no tournament in 2020, the Hero also invites the major winners from last year.

The field is then filled by inviting players via the Official World Golf Ranking, provided they are in the top 50.

Woods recovers from a serious car accident on February 23. He has not made any public comments about his health since March and the photo he tweeted in April.
