T. Wotherspoon joins Comets on AHL deal

The Utica Comets have signed defenseman Tyler Wotherspoon for the 2021/22 season in the American Hockey League.

Wotherspoon, who attended the New Jersey Devils training camp, amassed six assists in 24 games with the AHL’s Lehigh Valley Phantoms in his eighth pro season, 2020/21.

The Burnaby, BC native has played 433 games in the AHL with Lehigh Valley, San Antonio, Stockton, Adirondack and Abbotsford, scoring 26 goals and 122 assists for 148 points for a cumulative rating of plus 69.

Wotherspoon was originally a second-round pick from Calgary in the 2011 NHL Draft and has made five assists in 30 NHL career games with the Flames.
