The scorecards for Cory Sandhagen vs. TJ Dillashaw (and many other UFC Vegas 32 bouts) sparked a heated debate online; However, Casey Kenny says Dillashaw deserves a bantamweight title shot in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

Kenney – losing to Dillashaw’s rival Dominick Cruz – will fight Song Yadong at UFC 265 on Saturday, August 7th, at the Toyota Center in Houston, TX via ESPN + Pay-per-View (PPV). Before the fight, Kenney gives his assessment of Dillashaw’s victory over Sandhagen (see highlights) and the state of the country for his fellow weights.

“I thought he looked great,” Kenney tells MMAMania.com of Dillashaw’s performance. “For me, [in] a fist fight, the damage Cory did, was far more effective in my eyes and scored more in a fight than the body locks TJ had. But it was an impressive feat by TJ

“I would like to see him and [Petr] Yan fight, ”he adds, insisting that Dillashaw deserves the shot, be it against expected title challenger Yan or champion Aljamain Sterling. “I think TJ has the next title fight.”

Kenney also reflects on his split-decision loss to Cruz (watch highlights) at UFC 259 on March 6th.

“I definitely think I can work back from that. One of the judges nodded to me in this fight. Overall, it was a pretty good performance so nothing to knock on. I’m in a position right now where I can fight anyone. If I get song, I could probably work my way back into the top 15 or I get a newcomer. I like this position because it gives you options. I can get a lot of fights, ”he says. “I just turned 30. I’ve been here for a long time. One or the other spectacular finish definitely brings me back into the mix. ”

“It was pretty much a fight for Dominick Cruz,” says Kenney of the fight itself. “The wild card in this fight was the slippery mats. It was hard to gain a foothold on that first lap. It messed up my schedule a bit. But when it came to Dominick Cruz, he was smart and difficult to hit. “

UFC President Dana White was convinced he would increase the performance bonuses from $ 50,000 to $ 75,000 when the promotion for UFC 262 came to Houston. White reintroduced the $ 75,000 bonus for UFC 264: “Poirier vs. McGregor 3” and Kenney becomes definitely inquire if you will do it again.

“I will definitely ask about it,” he said. “They continued with the McGregor card, so maybe they’ll do it for pay-per-view cards from now on. I will definitely raise my hand to ask for it. ”

UFC 265 is spearheaded by a UFC Interim Heavyweight Title fight in which Derrick Lewis competes against Ciryl Gane. For the rest of the UFC 265 battle map and PPV lineup, click here.
