While the tiny details are still being worked out, The Athletic’s Shams Charania reports that Free Agent Guard Spencer Dinwiddie is signing a three-year $ 62 million deal with the Washington Wizards, who are sending a second-round pick and draft swap to Brooklyn become networks in a sign-and-trade agreement.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski adds that the Wizards will swap striker Chandler Hutchinson and a second-round pick for the San Antonio Spurs in 2022 when sign-and-trade expands to include the Indiana Pacers and Los Angeles Lakers.

Washington’s decision to trade for Dinwiddie follows a blockbuster deal that sold all-star guard Russell Westbrook to the Los Angeles Lakers late last week.

Dinwiddie, who averaged 20.6 points and 6.8 assists per game in his last perfectly healthy season, is a stable and efficient playmaker who may not set up the gaudy stats Westbrook is known for, but more than is able to be the second option of the magician behind Bradley Beal.

And regarding Beal – who is set to weigh his future against the franchise ahead of the 2021 NBA draft – Washington’s aggressive pursuit of one of the better point guards shows her desire to keep the rising star in DC

After working their way into the 2021 NBA playoffs with a 34-38 record and career season from Beal, the Wizards have given themselves another chance to kick off the postseason.
