REPORT: 5 Lakers Are in Protocols After Russell Westbrook Joins Record

Russell Westbrook and Avery Bradley have entered NBA health and safety logs, according to multiple reports. The Lakers have five players on record including Dwight Howard, Talen Horton-Tucker and Malik Monk.

Westbrook and Bradley stayed in Dallas while their teammates head to Minnesota ahead of their matchup against the Timberwolves on Friday. The Lakers signed Isaiah Thomas on a 10-day contract before news of Westbrook and Bradley entering logs was released.

According to insider Adrian Wojnarowski, 63 players and three employees signed COVID-19 protocols, 47 of them in December. The league and players union had talks on Wednesday to increase testing for vaccinated players and staff after the surge in positive results affected not only the NBA but the NFL as well.

The Lakers have already postponed their afternoon fight with the Bulls to 7 p.m. CT, but that game could now be postponed as well. Her marque Christmas game with the Nets could be in jeopardy as Brooklyn grapples with an outbreak on their team and is missing seven players, including James Harden and LaMarcus Aldridge, who are on logs.

The league rules state that players must register two negative tests within 24 hours in order to clear the virus logs.
