The Cardiff Devils have added veteran striker Brodie Reid to their squad for 2021/22.
A five-year veteran in Europe, Reid returned to the ECHL last season, leading the Kansas City Mavericks with 25 goals and 60 assists in 60 games.
The 31-year-old went to Europe in 2015 and moved to Bozen from the then EBEL, but it wasn’t until his second season with the Füchsen that he really made an impression – 26 goals and 22 assists in 54 games. The following season he was 18 + 29 for Dornbirn, followed by 18 + 29 the following year. In 2018/19, his third season with the Bulldogs, Reid scored 15 goals and assisted on 24 others. In the shortened 2019/20 season, the Canadian collected 346 points in 45 games for Villach.
“Brodie is a successful goalscorer and has been at or near the top of his team’s goalscoring list for the past few seasons,” said head coach Jarrod Skalde of his latest signing.
“He’s had another great season leading his team in the ECHL, what is probably the best competitive season in the history of the league. Covid saw many players returning there who would normally not be in that league and the level of play was higher than normal and he stood out as one of the top players in the league.
“His coaches and team-mates say he makes the players around him better and I think his mix of talent and experience is ideal for this team.”
