Phantoms Prime Bears 2-1 on Tuesday Night time in Allentown


The Hershey Bears made a 2-1 decision against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms at the PPL Center on Tuesday evening. Both teams will compete against each other again on Wednesday, December 22nd at the GIANT Center, with the puck drop scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Ryan Dmowski scored for the third time in a row and Pheonix Copley made 17 saves on the net.

Lehigh Valley scored the only goal of the first third at the 14:12 mark in Charlie Gerard’s first record of the season. After a turnover in the defensive zone, Maksim Sushko set up an open gerard for a layup near the back door. Shots after 20 minutes were 10-8 Lehigh Valley. The bears ended the opening verse 0-for-3 on power play and 2-for-2 on penalty kill.

The Phantoms doubled their lead to 2-0 in the midframe and carried a two-goal lead into the second break. Connor Bunnaman stormed the Bears’ net front and turned on goalkeeper Pheonix Copley for his fourth goal of the season. Shots after 40 minutes were 19-15 Hershey.

Hershey drew 2-1 in the later stages of the third period to attempt a comeback. With 3:07 to go, Ryan Dmowski fell the archway and scored his third goal in as many games for the Chocolate and White. The Bears drew Copley for the extra attacker in the last minute and had a 6v4 power play for the final 11 seconds but couldn’t even draw. A close call to the final horn was for video verification, but the puck did not cross the goal line before time ran out. Final shots on goal amounted to 30-19 Hershey. The bears record moves to 12-9-2-1.
