May the Steelers signal Cam Newton to again up Ben Roethlisberger?

With Cam Newton sacked by the New England Patriots, the Pittsburgh Steelers are a team that might be interested in him, with him supporting Ben Roethlisberger.

Now that the Cam Newton era of New England Patriots football is over, the Pittsburgh Steelers are a team that might make sense for him to endorse Ben Roethlisberger.

Newton has often been compared to Big Ben since he came from Auburn over a decade ago. They are tall, strong, and form-fitting players who play football in a similar way. So while it would make sense to have a comparable player to back up your starter, there’s one big problem with Newton: he’s not vaccinated, and that could keep him away from the Steelers.

With the arrival of Cut Day, the vaccination status had a deeper impact than we expected.

Cam Newton Posted: Could He Support Ben Roethlisberger in Pittsburgh?

At this stage in his career, is Newton a better quarterback than Dwayne Haskins or Mason Rudolph?

Yes, as he was fighting for the Patriots’ starting job before losing to Mac Jones.

However, Newton is no longer the NFL MVP-level player he was with the Carolina Panthers in his prime.

Simply put, the teams will make no exception for him or any other unvaccinated player.

So what should Newton do now that he’s out of work? He could sit back and wait for a quarterback desperate team to urgently need his services. He could also take the time to get vaccinated so he doesn’t fall victim to training camp like the Patriots did.

Either way, Newton only comes to the Steelers if he gets the vaccine. Otherwise he won’t go there.

While Newton would be a great support to Roethlisberger, the vaccination status affects his viability.
